Textura Style Guide
The marketing department was doing a rebrand so I was able to use this opportunity to design a new, more modern style guide than the one the homegrown applications were using. I worked with the lead front-end developer who decided we were going to move all the applications over to an Angular framework and use Kendo controls to save development time and help create consistency across all applications.
Once I received the green light to do the redesign I spent several hours with customer service reps in order to gather as much feedback from customers as I could. My goal was to address as many user complaints as possible.
I teamed with the dev lead and the second UI/UX designer and we locked ourselves into an office for a week and designed the style guide. When we were doing the design we had to make a key decision right away, the original application style guide was a blue based style guide whereas the new marketing guide leaned more to orange. After a short discussion we agreed to keep the bluer look from the old guide and modernize it, we agreed to bring in the marketing elements where we could.
Once the guide was created we tested it internally with customer service, marketing and the executives. We received immediate sign off and were told to create a plan to roll out the new guide. Once we had a plan in place we notified our customers to let them know changes were coming. When the updated pages started rolling out we received positive feedback from our customer base.
